Before the third day's session, Elizabeth warned Marianne: "Be careful...It (his work) can cause a lot of damage to people....If he wants to paint your face, refuse." During their next encounter in the studio (when she defiantly chose her own positions for the first time), Marianne stated that it was over between her and her boyfriend, calling him a bastard and a fool ("my life's coming to a stop"). Feeling unloved, Elizabeth (who was becoming more and more disconsolate, tormented and jealous because of her husband's rapt attention to his model), compared her painting of 10 years earlier with the current one. And among her peers, though she says that she remained close to the boys who would have been her fellow Cub Scouts, things were different. “I would always be that girl. There were never any negative feelings from them toward me ever,” she says, “but that bond that we had as Cub Scouts was just taken away.”

Description :  Beautiful young American tourist Janet Cooper goes on vacation to a remote South American country. After being arrested by a corrupt cop and subsequently found guilty of a trumped-up charge involving possession of narcotics, Janet finds herself incarcerated at an isolated castle located deep in the jungle that serves as a hellish women’s penitentiary. The brutal staff at said prison not only treat the inmates as their own sexual playthings, but also force the ladies into prostitution and even let decadent rich folks hunt them down like animals in the wild.

The individual sections dealing with the three titular "girls" all have distinct visual layouts and themes used for their chapters. Alice's sections feature ovals reminiscent of her looking-glass ; Wendy's are shrouded in tall, dark rectangles reminiscent of the shadowy Victorian architecture of her time, and Dorothy has wide panels in imitation of the flat landscape of Kansas and prominently featured silver shoes.
